Hi All,
The publisher of DIRTY DEEDS asked me to write a post about why I picked the characters I did for my 2 stories in the anthology. Okay — she twisted my arm, but I adore her so here we are.
For the Eli and Liz story, it was mostly curiosity. I have written about Eli, but never from his point of view (POV). Eli is special to me, because he was broken for his country, and because survivors guilt is so hard to live with. I wanted to see inside his head, to the brokenness and the healed parts of his soul beneath. I wanted to see why he does what he does. What ticks him off. What makes him run away! (Romance for the last one, because he is such a GUY.) And Eli deserves happiness. I was never totally happy with Eli and Syl. But Liz…. Now there is one tough chick. She isn’t a thin wisp of a girl-child. She is rounded, old enough to know what she wants and to fight for it. She is and determined. I have loved witch-twins Liz and Cia from the first short I ever wrote about them. And when I started thinking about them, Liz and Eli just clicked in my head. I think they clicked on paper too, and in a circle being attacked by partially corporeal being.
For the Linc and Bedelia story? Who doesn’t the chance to grow up and change and then have a second chance at love? And if they find it while fighting evil, then so much the better. I love a good fight scene.
So check out the stories. THEY ROCK! And then, pretty please, review! Love you all!
