Hi ALL!

The Hubs and I headed for the hills for Thanksgiving. We had never stayed at the top of the hill overnight because the driveway was so badly eroded, and required so much grading work. This time the drive was perfect and the RV made it to the top! The first thing we discovered was the old septic system. Yes. By driving the heavy RV right into it and getting stuck. Even with the dreadful drought, the ground there was still wet. But the trusty Tracker, in 4 wheel low drive, (me at the wheel) (buffs nails) pulled the RV out! YAY! It was so quiet. We ended up staying for two nights, parked under the stars in the RV. We were alone on the property this time. All the other people involved in reclaiming this former trailer park and illegal dump site were busy on Thanksgiving weekend. Alone, in the dark, there were so many stars! It is such a blessing to see the night sky, something few young people growing up today will ever see, here in the east coast states, because the land is being developed so fast.

The next morning, we planted the FireGlow maple in the bone pit. Here’s a pic. The vertebra refused to stay buried and now sits on the broken block that marks the grave site. We are not finished cleansing the site but the weekend was dry and windy and keeping white sage lit was impossible.

On the 2 days that followed, we cleaned out a culvert, located another that was fully clogged with silt, and discussed ways to keep them from filling up again so fast. We hiked for 2 hours, bird watched, watched a feral cat walk up the long drive and catch and eat something in the weeds. When it saw the RV, it froze, glared at us, and took off.
“How dare you take my hunting spot!”

We cleaned up more trash. So much more thrash! We are still finding bones everywhere. It’s been a sad misuse of the land by illegal dog fighting breeders, illegal dumping, and illegal deer carcass dumping (the last by hunters who don’t follow the laws of caring for the land and the animals that roam it).

We hung signs to (hopefully) stop the illegal dumping, but honestly, trashy people seldom learn new habits. Thankfully, if we get video footage of the dumpers, (and the drug sales that happen on the road out front) the county will step in and start making arrests. So that is good.

Meanwhile, Hubs and I had a ball, and when I told him he looked sexy in his work clothes, he instantly started singing.
I was laughing so hard I almost missed the shots!

If you are not singing by now, you should be!
I hope everyone found some joy in this Thanksgiving weekend.

Love to you all,

Faith
